Waiting Room

You're waiting. You think you deserve it now.
Whatever it is.
You are walking around the coffee table, pacing and pacing.
You want the doctor to say its time, you've waited long enough.
But you wait...

Relationship after relationship,
interest after interest,
fleeting passions.
You're still waiting...

Someone comes, looks at you and walks away.
You sit, but your stomach moves with utter yearning for something more.
So shallow, so empty.
Why can't the doctor give you something of substance?
You think this while you wait...

Finally the doctor stops next to you,
You think, "Maybe its time."
Then you learn the news and it leaves you empty...again.
Another one who doesn't care for the doctor as much as his hospital.
So where are the ones who love the doctor...?

You're still in the waiting room...someday she'll come.

Then the doctor grabs your hand,
and he whispers, "Here's my plan:
how you'll walk,
and how you'll stand...

I have sent for my only son.
Your friend, maybe your only one...

But he is... all you'll ever need.
And you'll find, He cares!"

Thanks, so true. When we wait, it is painful, but God's sustaining promises pervade our darkest thoughts. What peace! Thanks again,
